What is it about bright, showy colours that attracts us? Are we like butterflies and birds that zone in on nectar-rich food sources by seeking the brighter blossoms in the hopes that they will contain more sustenance than the boring, pale plants beside them?
Whatever the reason, my camera card is full of flower photos in tones of yellows, oranges and purples, and when I look at them, my heart does a little flip - and happiness ensues.
Bright Begonia after the rain. In my niece Rhonda's garden,
showing off for the wedding.
Congratulations to my two nieces, Rhonda and Kristine, who got married this Summer, and to Carol & Derrick, and Esther & Mike, on their 25th Wedding Anniversaries.
Celebrations abound in the Summer months, and well they should, as this is the time for everything to blossom out and 'show off' while the time is right. My Summer has been all work-work-work and I haven't had time to do much except try to keep up with the flow. This is not what I envisioned my first Summer back in New Brunswick to be, but I guess life has a way of choosing your schedule sometimes, does it not?
Middle of August and now I have a new job that I love, a job that is much less stressful on both my mental and physical states. It's nearby, a mere 11 minutes' drive away. Colin and I have our home all set up the way we want it now - oh, and it is fully functional! I have a room of my own in which to write, read, visit the internet, play with my crafts, and study herbs to my heart's content. Herbs have always been my 'first passion' where study and life interest were concerned, and no matter whatever else I did in my life, herbs were always there to rejoice my heart, boost my energy, and keep my health on the right track. Being in a place of my own, where climate, space and opportunity allow, I can finally fulfill my dream of growing a proper Herb and Perennial Garden. What colours and fragrances will those plants display!
This blog had originally been started for my digital design career, which came to a screeching halt in March, as many of you know, with the crash of my Cottage Scrapbooks site. I must say that I miss designing, but most of all, I miss being in touch with everyone who had made the Cottage their home and who had become real friends to me along the way. I will keep this blog open for the occasional scrap freebie that I may give away once in awhile, but it won't be an everyweek thing as it was before. I do intend on making my designs available again in the future and I will make that announcement right here when it does happen.
Fulfilling dreams has been my goal ever since I turned 25 many years ago, a life-changing time when I decided that acquiring happiness had to become my total responsibility, as I wasn't waiting around for anyone else to do it for me anymore. So I'm once again taking on the challenge that life has always presented me:
To Follow Your Dreams, You Must Make Them Happen First!
In conjunction with amassing a great amount of hands-on knowledge on herbs, plants and gardening, I have always wanted to teach the wisdom of plants, their soul-healing powers, and all that goes with growing and using plants for pleasure and healing. This is now my Dream Mission. It's a big one, and much planning must precede the actual opening of our new, teaching and interactive site. More info will be posted as time goes by. This site will also have my Stellarific Creations available for purchase, for interested scrappers.
Wishing you bright blossoms in YOUR garden!
